Who we are

As the first supplier in the competitive water market, we’ve been serving our non-household customers in the UK since 2008. Our goal is to make a positive difference to your business, the environment, our people and the communities we serve.

What makes us different

When the water market in Scotland opened in 2008, non-household customers were able to choose their supplier for the first time anywhere in the world. The competitive market opened in England in 2017. From the very start, we’ve been working hard to deliver financial and environmental savings to our customers, while driving positive change for the environment and wider society.

Our extensive experience, expertise, customer focus and commitment to making a positive difference are what makes us naturally different.

Making a positive difference

We launched our vision to make a positive difference in September 2019, centered around the four areas that matter most to us: our customers, our people, the environment and our local communities. To develop our vision and achieve our goals, we aligned our plan to Business in the Community’s (BiTC) Responsible Business Map, a framework designed to help organisations assess and strengthen their contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Since 2019, we’ve introduced a wide range of initiatives to support our ambitions.

Our partnerships

We have big ambitions for our vision to make a positive difference. And we know we can achieve even more by working with external partners who have the expertise to help us address the key environmental and social issues impacting us all today.

Measurably different

We’ve committed to participating in external assessments and audits to benchmark our performance and help drive continuous improvement. To support this, we have also joined best-practice frameworks that require us to regularly report our progress:

  • The EcoVadis Gold rating (achieved four years running) puts us in the top 2% of over 150,000 companies assessed against global sustainability standards.
  • Annually audited ISO certifications recognise our high standards in environmental management, health and safety, and quality.
  • The three-yearly Waterwise Water Efficiency Checkmark (achieved for the third time in 2025) shows our commitment to maximising water efficiency within our own business.
  • In 2024, we became the first water supplier to join the United Nations Global Compact, which includes meeting annual reporting requirements.
  • We’re a plus member of Sedex, which requires us to complete an annual sustainable procurement audit.
